International Adoption:
International adoption is the process which involves two countries. It involves the laws of the country of the natural parent and the country of the adopting parent. The procedures differ from one country to another country. The adoption can be taken in either of the country provided it is not contrary to both the laws of the country. You have to comply with the documentary requirements of your state and the state where you adopt the child.
As the international adoption deals with the immigration laws of both the states you approach an Immigration attorney to avoid the risk of making an invalid adoption.
You can bring the child to the U.S whom you want to adopt and complete the process of adoption as per the US laws of adoption, or you can go to the country of the natural parent of the child and complete the process of adoption in that country. You can bring the child so adopted along with the certificate of valid adoption with all other necessary documents. Such an adoption must be cleared through the Federal Immigration and Naturalization service.
Revocation of Adoption:
If you adopt a child, the child becomes your child and after sometime or later you cannot change your mind to revoke the process of adoption. Once you get the formal adoption, the adoption becomes irrevocable. Even the natural parent has no rights to bring back the child, after the adoption process is completed. But, if the adoption itself is void for reason of legal requirements, then the adoption can be cancelled.
If a formal adoption is completed, it is not open to the public to see such a document. Any person who wants to see the document should file a petition through an attorney stating that he wants to see such an adoption record. Unless you get the order from the court, you are not permitted to see the records.
The natural parent or biological parent becomes the third party as far as the child is concerned. But if the natural parent comes to know that the child is treated with cruelty, or the child is not maintained properly the natural parent by filing a petition in the court may seek for the cancellation of adoption. For such cancellation of adoption consult an adoption law attorney and the attorney will guide you to get cancellation of adoption.
