Some general problems relating to Child Support:
What happens if the custodian parent misuses the money obtained from child support?
Supposing you are a non custodian parent and if you come to know that the amount what you pay is not used in the interest of the child by the custodian parent, you can bring the matter to the knowledge of court by filing a petition, and stating the above facts. The court may ask the custodian parent to produce the record for the amount spent for meeting the child expenses. If the court is not satisfied on such records, it may order to change the child custody to you.
If the custodian parent is irresponsible towards the child, and uses the money for her own purpose or for some other purpose other than needs of the child, the custodian parent could be charged with child abuse or neglect.
What happens if the parent who has been ordered child support fails to pay?
If you are ordered by the court to pay the child support, and in the absence of you to pay such support, unless you did not pay due to unavoidable circumstances such as you were hospitalized, a contempt proceeding will be initiated against you by the opposite party.
